Part II - looking back (and looking forward) [June 2019]

Once a month blogs.  That's about what I can manage these days.

So May is what I would call a 'wash' month.  That's probably the month that for most people they would want to give up...'it's not working, so I'm just going to eat what I want.' And that is exactly what you shouldn't do.

When your body stops losing; you need to stop for a moment and think:

  1. Am I letting a few more carbs slide back in?
  2. Am I having a hard time getting back to my low carb eating?
  3. Is there a part of my regimen that I (dread, find difficult to maintain, hate with a purple passion and makes me feel like I am banging my head against a brick veneer wall???)...what can I do to change this and still be low carb?
  4. Review H.A.L.T - am I hungry, angry, lonely, tired...and are one of these things effecting me enough to make my loss slow down or stop.
  5. Am I getting enough water????
Maybe you are doing everything right, ok...then perhaps your body has taken over and is trying to create another "weight set point."  Your body is not controlled by your mind.  Your body is a machine and is constantly trying to keep a point of equilibrium.  Your body starts loosing weight and it thinks...ah hellna.  We're running out of food. It slams on the breaks and thinks.  I'm not going to let you go any lower or higher...your ass is staying right here until I can decided if this is a passing phase, a new way of life, a starvation period.

Best thing to do - keep doing it.
Worse thing - do it massively different, or stop completely.

You are changing you.  Not just your health, your weight, the numbers on the scales...you are eating differently and it is changing all of you.  Your body is just trying to do what's best for it (and you).

Make sure and do 30/30.  30 minutes of walking 30 days straight.  AND BREATH DAMN IT!!! Nice deep breath in and slow breath out.  It's peace time in your world.  Enjoy and be thankful for the changes that have happened.  Tell your body...'it's ok that you slowed down for a while.  Take the time you need and I will enjoy the changes you have provided so far.'

If your not so metaphysical...well, just be damn glad your staying the same and not getting bigger.

As for me, I admit I had deserts that were not keto approved.  But I allowed myself that.  I ate all my meals low carb (except the planned treats).  In four days I gained 1.5 lbs.  Then no more high carb treats and lost it within a day or two.

Things I want you to say - (Don't say I can't eat this or that.)

  • I choose to eat low carb; because I have seen my results and I know I can do this.
  • I choose a low carb alternative; because I continue to crave an item that is high carb.  If I can't find an alternative I will eat what I crave and move forward.
  • I choose to eat (when or when not to eat) a high carb item; because I know that one item will not effect me. As long as I don't continue to eat lots of high carb items.
  • I choose not to feel guilty; because it takes time to change patterns I have had.
  • I choose not to give up; because I wasn't happy with the way it was before - or I wouldn't have changed in the first place.
Truthfully - COMMITMENT is the name of the game for anything! And eating program is no different.

(holds up bottle of protein water) here's to June.  I'm ready! Let's do this thing together!
