Water Fasting (7 days) - Introduction
Keto Summary (so far):
Looking back through my own pages I am so excited that I made mention of my Keto program. And it has truly been a success. Since January I have lost 45 lbs, dropped 2 clothes sizes. It no longer hurts to walk the 3 feet to the bathroom anymore.
I haven't felt all this supposed energy that is supposed to come. It's been great buying new clothes and hearing people say wow you look great!
I know this is the program that I can do for the rest of my life. Yes there are some high (super high) carbs mixed in. But I have way more good days than bad and the scale is still inching its way down. [Pun]
But I have been reading and watching a lot of stuff on line. And I feel adventurous enough to try a water fast. Only a few people will be in the know. Or anyone who stumbles across this blog. But it's almost more of a personal challenge than anything.
So the fun begins on Thursday, October 10th. (10-10-19).
Water Fast (a.k.a. Extended Fasting) Introduction:
After seeing Big John on YouTube "The Fasting Fatman," reading Dr. Jason Fung, and listening to Dr. Berg regarding fasting, I've decided that I'm going to do a sustain water fast for 5 straight days. Nothing compared to some people, but certainly more than this chunky monkey has ever done. I tried to partake of Ramadan; I made it 10 days. But (and this is so horrible) I am not a morning person. You have to eat before the sun comes up. I assure you at 3am or 4am the last thing I want is food. Now eating late at night to break the fast was right up my alley. As for Lent (pfff) I think I made it three days without sugar before I was rolling on the floor (in metaphorical tears). I've grown a lot as a person since then.
Now, my goal is to reach a state where my body goes into autophagy (schluff off those old cells and get me some new ones - hell yeah). Flush toxins from my body (good bye). To really kick up ketosis a notch. And for mental clarity (I can see the future...). Ok, I'm really looking forward to some mental clarity, even if it doesn't come with mental clairvoyance.
Thursday! I'm ready!!!
I've got a plan, done my research, and I know what I'm getting into. I've purchase vitamins, electrolytes, apple cider vinegar (pills - there is no way in Hades I can consume the liquid), nutritional yeast, and a new water bottle. My body will survive on my stored fat. I will be my own personal picnic. (which is both neat and gross)
I'm going to use my blog to track my journey and to check in (if I don't check in I might be on the floor in an H2O haze). The key to this is being honest and having open communication (but not with everyone). It's having one open minded person to check in with not every-one's input into the process. So if you do post, I may not respond to individuals. I'm hoping my 10 months with Keto will make this a little easier to do.
I also have a "refeeding" plan. That's coming out of the fast to start bringing food products slowly back into my life. I'm figuring that it will take about 3-4 days to transition back out. Yummy broth my new best friend. (grumpy/pre-fast face)
My new 1/2 gallon of water - will be filled with filtered water (or spring if I have to buy some). No direct tap.
And as a side note, I'm going to try to not watch TV. This is a chance to read, do crafts, work in the yard. I can hear someone getting ready to call the loony ward on me. Well, too bad! I'm going to do this and you can't stop me! Well, you probably could wrestle me to the floor on day three, but you'd have an unfair advantage but at that point I'd only have two days left. Wouldn't rather wait so you could say, "I told you so." Not that you would, for you are compassionate, curious, and you want to see how my journey turns out. And giggle about it on your blog.
Have a nice day!
